Sincerely, my appreciation level of the project is...To be honest, I can't fully rate it and since it's my first development internship, I don't have any other projects to based myself upon.
Through my first AIESEC experience, I had the opportunity to travel to China (I would have done sometimes in the future but "Dare to Dream" project simply made it happen earlier).
Moreover, I had the chance to meet people from many other countries and on top of that, to meet chinese students with whom I could communicate in English. In end, bonds of friendships were made and strengthened.
Meeting people from Sichuan, particularly teenagers and having the chance to live with them for 10 days. One of the best part of the AIESEC experience was to observe and critically analyse the behaviour of those young chinese people. In addition, getting to know chinese university students from different provinces was a beneficial experience and the time spent with them will be forever remembered.
There are, however, drawbacks to the project. Basically, most people must not have liked the poor living conditions. But I believe it is part of the experience. Communication with schools' officials might not have been the easiest part as well. The organizers must have had a hard time with this situation and the volunteers might have felt disappointed by the attitude of the schools' officials.
"Sharing is caring." Through "Dare to Dream", I was given the chance to share what I've acquired as knowledge and experience so far. I shared my culture and traditions, I shared my different point of views, I brought some new things in the lives of many people and I wish sincerely that I had the time to do more...for more people :(
One of the biggest achievement in the project was the business simulation game. The kids were thrilled at the idea of making profit in a totally virtual environment (of course!). The farewell party activities from my students were also a big success and I was fully satisfied.
Eventually, this is my personal opinion and it's not even complete. A project like "Dare to Dream" can be analysed from many point of views: Economics, psychology & other social perspectives.
AIESEC eXperience is about sharing your experience, acquiring new ones, personal growth as well as the opportunity to see others develop themselves. The AIESEC eXperience is not, however, unique. One doesn't really need AIESEC to experience the same thing or anything similar. The only difference, perhaps, would be that AIESEC is an organisation, a platform which is already established and operational. Therefore, it provides you with some facilities. Maybe as an eXchange Participant, I would see the real thing although my personal satisfaction level is far above average. To conclude this briefly, I should get myself involve in AIESEC at a higher level. Then, I will probably see the bigger picture & eXperience the real life changing eXperience.
Last but not least, I will never forget any of the friends I've encountered during my AIESEC eXperience and hopefully, they will never forget me...
